College Ministry

Ministry Coordinator: Bro. Carl Merriweather and Sis. Sheila Merriweather

Purpose: Education is a valuable necessity! In life we strive to better ourselves by growing in knowledge and wisdom because these things reap the fruits of true success. In this society we are taught from very young ages to be the best at what we do, and to strive in getting a good education. Fortunately, it has been made possible by God for everyone who is able to pursue what we call “Higher Education”.

Every path that we choose to walk in this life desperately requires the close guidance of our Great God above. Because of this truth, our congregation has developed a ministry for college students specifically designed to help them stay faithful in their Christian walk while advancing in their academic pursuits. The college student ministry consists of young adults attending various colleges in the Washington Metropolitan area. As a student, they face many different obstacles in their lives, therefore it is imperative that they constantly be fed spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and physically so that they can grow in the faith of the Lord, and be diligent in the work of the church of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Mission: To grow in spirit, truth and in fellowship one with another and as a ministry as we go out and teach the gospel and win souls to Christ.

Goals: (1) To encourage the students to introduce the Gospel to those that they come in contact with daily; (2) to keep the students focused on the Lord as they advance academically; (3) to encourage the students to live a life committed to seeking and following Christ in all they do; (4) to keep the students connected one to another; (5) to provide a relaxed atmosphere conducive to learning spiritually and academically; and (6) to provide the necessities (love, encouragement and food) of college life while the students are away from home.
